The Implementation Force (IFOR) was deployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina in December 1995 as a multinational force operating under the Joint Endeavour operation for one year (December ’95 – December ’96). The aim was to strengthen and to enforce the respect of the Dayton agreements. In Bosnia and Herzegovina’s airspace there was still the no-fly zone and to enforce it, part of the air forces involved in the “Deny Flight” operation were deployed to this end in the framework of a new and special operation called “Decisive Edge”. The balance was positive and starting from the following year, the operation was transformed into Operation “Joint Guard”, in support of the newly launched “Stabilization Force” (SFOR).
